Last Saturday I set an early alarm and made my way over to the #MKBloggerBrunch hosted at The Swan Restaurant in Salford, Milton Keynes, for the first of what I hope will be many more blogging events in the area. Before this event took place I didn’t realise quite how many bloggers were dotted across Milton Keynes, so to talk all things blogging over good food and drink was an extremely welcome invitation!
By 10am, coffee, juice and champagne were flowing as we sat and talked amongst one another in an adorable, rustic style function room located to the side of The Swan. First of all, let me just say how amazing the staff were. Of course you always hope that the person serving you is attentive and polite, but the addition of a smiley, chatty presence is something I’m experiencing less and less when I go out, so it made the whole event even better for me.
After ordering our food, it was pretty inevitable that we were going to dive into the little goodie bags placed around the table. Inside were a collection of vouchers for a free coffee at Bogota Coffee, 50% off at RUSH Hair, £15 off our next meal at The Swan and £5 off any treatment at Beauty Box by Alyson – alongside a tea towel from MK Food Revolution, a Coco Berry Cosmopolitan cocktail mix from Muddle & Mash and a selection of seriously cute stationery from Lethbridge Cards, all of which I thought was a really nice touch.
The champion of all breakfasts then arrived in front of me. I’ve never ordered Eggs Benedict before, but I thought a blogger’s brunch was a good opportunity to do so, and I am so, so glad I did as it was hands down the best breakfast I have ever eaten. Toasted white bread topped with thick, lean ham, two perfectly poached eggs and a thick serving of hollandaise sauce. My god, it was to die for, and with fresh coffee and bubbly on the side, what more could a girl ask for?
So admittedly it took us bloggers a good few minutes to actually tuck in to our food as we were all too busy snapping away with our cameras and iPhones, but that’s pretty standard behaviour from people who put their lives on the internet using photography to set the scene for each post.
Spending a few hours on that rainy Saturday morning with so many down to earth ladies who share the same passions as me was really lovely. Thank you to Sophie from MK Bloggers for the incredible organisation, I’m looking forward to round two, whenever that may be!
