It’s been about three months since I last stepped into a hair salon, which admittedly isn’t that long for me, but with one too many split ends and a trip to Greece looming, I jumped at the chance of a fresh cut and blowdry at the new Rush Hair & Beauty Salon, which is rather hilariously placed smack bang next to Lush within the intu Shopping Centre in Milton Keynes.
The layout of the salon is totally different to anything I’ve seen before, with the reception area on the ground floor, and the salon itself tucked away at the top of a stair case, separating you from that hectic city environment. The space that they’ve got is filled with a gorgeous black, white and fuchsia pink colour scheme, finished with flowers, mirrors and chandelier, giving the salon a stunning, chic setting.
Hair freshly washed, quite possibly my favourite part of any hair cut, Kelly sat me down to chat about style, length and even a potential colour change for the future – because this ombre has well and truly over stayed its welcome. I’m a bit of a wimp when it comes to chopping off my hair, so we agreed to meet in the middle, cutting off just over an inch to freshen up the ends and adding in shorter sections to frame my face. It needed more off no thanks to countless bleaching sessions, but my intention of gaining back the long locks I once had meant two inches is bordering a risky decision!
Kelly finished off my hair with an incredible big, bouncy blowdry and style, which was exactly what I needed to complete my 90s fancy dress look for Darryl’s 22nd party later that night.
Thank you to Kelly at Rush Hair for giving me the perfect hair refresh before my holiday! Now all that’s left to do is pack, hop on the plane and head straight to the pool.
