If I’m being totally honest, I don’t particularly care what makeup I use and I certainly don’t stick to trends. I have the same “look” all year round and I’m completely ok with it. Though for some reason, when autumn comes around I feel completely obliged to take advantage of all the new makeup and fashion trends that are thrown into stores. After spending some of my time off last week trawling through the beauty counters of Debenhams and Fenwicks, I am obsessed with anything that slightly resembles those traditional autumn shades – god forbid if it contains glitter – so needless to say, I got spendy. To some this may be premature as technically, it’s still summer, but when autumn products are this good – a girl can’t resist.
Bare Minerals ‘Ready’ Foundation
Ok, so this is nothing new which you’d know if you saw my post on the foundation back in May. Why have I stuck with this foundation for a second time round? Because it really is that good. I used to go for the ‘dewy’ look, but I discovered the hard way (hello shiny face) that it didn’t suit me. Now, it’s a matte complexion all the way. This product lasted me four months as you really only need the tiniest amount on each application. Bare Minerals, you did good!
Bath & Body Works Room Spray in ‘Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin’
Well clearly this isn’t exactly a beauty product, but, it screams autumn and simply couldn’t not be featured in this post. A small spritz of this around the house now and again leaves your home smelling “fall ready” – and basically makes you crave anything cinnamon/pumpkin flavoured.
M&S Autograph Nail Polish
I usually have Bio Sculpture Gel on my nails, but that doesn’t stop me from loving glittery nail polishes – and it’s making me tempted to ditch the gels for a while as my nails are not coping well with them right now for some reason. If I decide to go au naturale, without a doubt this will be my ‘go to’ nail varnish.
MAC Lip Pencil in ‘Stripdown’
I have been desperate to buy myself a lip pencil for too long, so this week I bit the bullet and headed straight to my nearest MAC counter. I’m not one for bold, bright colours – so this subtle brown/nude liner was perfect. Now to master applying it successfully…
MAC Matte Lipstick in ‘Naturally Transformed’
I bought this to team it with my new lip pencil, though actually – it makes a pretty gorgeous shade on your lips when used on its own. I don’t suit glossy lipsticks, at all, so the fact that I’ve finally treated myself to this matte one is exciting and so overdue. So watch out, because me and my new autumn inspired matte lip combo will be out and about a fair bit this season!
I bought these (amongst about 100 others) for nail art purposes two years ago, and I’m desperate to whack them out this season whether it be for nails, makeup or even something Halloween related. There are no rules when it comes to glitter – as far as I’m concerned you can use it when you want, for whatever reason you want. End of story.
What products will you be using this season?
