Apart from briefly passing through the Birmingham and London Christmas Markets in the past, from what I remember I’ve never dedicated a day to spend at a proper Christmas market. With this year being our first Christmas in our new home, I’ve gone all out with creating new traditions, and a trip to a Christmas market was not going to be missed off the list.
Not the closest market to us, admittedly, but it seemed that nobody had a bad thing to say about Bath, and it’s Christmas market was one of the top ten according to Google, which is good enough for me! It took an absolute lifetime to get there, let alone park, as 99% of England’s population seemed to want to go to Bath that day – but with four hours to cram in as much as possible, we fueled ourselves with a Nandos (standard) and made our way into the chaos.
Everything from the market itself, to the gigantic tree, to the architecture in Bath made it the perfect Christmas market destination, even if the crowds were a bit mental. Pushing your way through a bustling, stationary queue whilst trying to keep your piping hot cup of mulled wine level above your head isn’t easy, let me tell you, but then again that’s all part of the fun isn’t it?
I can now happily tick ‘visit a Christmas market’ off our festive to do list! With Christmas only days away, it’s fair to say that I’m now beginning to get pretty excited about not only Christmas, but also my Birthday and New Year. Roll on the festivities… and prosecco, and excessive amounts of yule log.
