Every concealer I’ve ever tried has given me this awful cakey, thick, creased complexion, and to be honest I didn’t expect this one to be any different, but nevertheless after seeing beauty bloggers across the UK raving about it, I decided to bite the bullet and buy it. I nearly gave up after waiting for thirty minutes to be colour matched, but I figured I’d hovered awkwardly for long enough, so what’s another ten minutes of trying to be patient. Annoyingly even when I got colour matched the experience was pretty awful, because the sales assistant put the wrong colour on and then when I said “hmm, it looks pretty light for my skin” she suddenly thought she ought to try a darker one, which needless to say looked far better.
Worst colour match of the century aside, this concealer has seriously surprised me. Blending it into my skin is just an absolute dream, and that’s before I get onto the gorgeously bright finish it adds to your makeup. The NARS Creamy Concealer in Custard really is the perfect colour for my skin tone, so this little beauty is somewhat of a god send to my makeup bag. I just hope it doesn’t run out too quickly, because at £22.50 per tube I definitely can’t afford to restock too often!
So, that’s concealer sorted, now all I need to do is find my perfect foundation. I bought the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation the other day which I was seriously excited about after what I’d heard, but whilst it has a lovely consistency and a scent that reminds me of sitting pool side in warmer climates, it has made my skin beyond oily. Not only that, but I bought a shade slightly too dark, so for the past two weeks I’ve been walking around with a patchy, dark, oily face. Hot, right? I now have three different foundation samples sat in my bathroom to test over the next week or so, and then hopefully I can head into town to pick up the winning bottle next weekend. The foundations I’m now looking at sit within the £25-£35 price bracket, which is basically a heart attack compare to the Bourjois’ lovely £9.99 price tag, but I truly do believe that paying more for a quality product is worth it. Plus, you get colour matched, so I can’t go wrong this time. Providing I find one I love, keep your eyes peeled for a review!
