Whether you choose to spend Valentine’s Day indulging in a delicious meal either at a restaurant or in the comfort of your own home, or simply by diving into a fresh tub of Ben & Jerry’s, I think it’s fair to say that good food and drink is a big part of the day of romance.
After being harassed at last year’s Valentine’s meal by waiters and waitresses desperately trying to sell you a rose, which was beyond cringe, we decided to do things a little differently this year. In the morning we’re going to head out for brunch at a restaurant which I have seriously high hopes for, and then Darryl is kindly cooking me a three course meal consisting of my all time favourite foods in the evening. Bring on the camembert, pasta and black forest gateaux! A food baby will most definitely be present for the majority of the day, and that’s not including scoffing these adorable Krispy Creme Love Bug and Honey Bee Doughnuts!
So with the food side of things fully covered, what about the drink? Prosecco is my favourite celebratory beverage, so it was inevitable that it had to feature somewhere in the menu. To make it even yummier I’ve decided to try out a little Prosecco cocktail, which proved to be a big hit for both Darryl and I during the taste testing session yesterday. Bring on the bubbly…
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
A bottle of Prosecco
Juice of a lemon
Strawberries to decorate
(Krispy Creme Doughnuts optional, but recommended)
1. Fill your glass with ice
2. Pour in 1/4 Elderflower Cordial
3. Top up with 3/4 Prosecco
4. Squeeze in a tiny amount of fresh lemon juice
5. Make a small slice in a strawberry and place on the side of the glass to serve
These Prosecco and Elderflower cocktails are to die for and will beautifully compliment any meal that you have planned! Let me know if you give them a try either in the comments below, or on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram!
Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day everyone!
