By the time we arrived in Dubai on Sunday after a seven hour flight from London Gatwick, it was a bit late to go anywhere or do anything, so we explored the hotel and got an early night before venturing to Jumeirah Beach the next morning.
Being on a tight budget meant that we couldn’t take a taxi everywhere we wanted to go, so we had a seriously overpriced hotel breakfast (we didn’t make that mistake again) and then took the metro towards to beach. What we didn’t realise was that the metro actually stopped nowhere near the coast, so we had to taxi it a further 10 minutes until we ended up in the right place.
The beach was absolutely huge and had gorgeous fine white sand, plus we had the most amazing view of the Jumeirah Beach Hotel and the 7* Burj Al Arab Hotel! Admittedly it wasn’t as nice as the private beaches that the major hotels have, but it was perfect for a brief swim in the Arabian Gulf before our busy afternoon ahead.
I could have happily paddled around in the water for the entire time we were in Dubai, but we had too much else to see in our brief two day visit! If you’re looking for a public beach to spend a few hours at during your city break to Dubai, check out Jumeirah Beach.
